Fuel pump?

This has never happened to me in an SE-R so I need your suggestions.  I
tried to start the car this AM, and it just cranked and cranked without
turning over.  After several attempts to crank it over, I let it sit a
while.  For some reason, I thought back to my Camaro days, and I stomped
on the gas pedal the next time I turned the key.  This time, I got a
cough more than just starter cranking.  So, I kept my throttle on the
floor and kept cranking.  It finally turned over and started.  It took a
heavy foot on the throttle for a few more seconds to keep the revs up.
Then, it idled fine, and I drove to work without further incident.  Does
this sound like a fuel pump problem?
