External battery kill switch placement.

After thinking about it at work for a while I realized how I jumped to this
conclusion and how it's completely wrong. Now I understand why this kill
switch is hard, it's because fo that damn alternator. Anyone done this
correctly? Maybe using a relay to the alternator or something?
