IF you want to weld both Steel and Aluminium youll need to get a multi
purpose welder, other wise youll need two machines a TIG and a Stick welder
or MIG. Miller makes one called the Syncrowave 250 that is both a stick
welder and TIG all rolled into one nice and neat package....down side, the
price is about $2800, (I swear I saw it for $1200 some where) another down
side with stick welding, its a bit difficult to weld sheet metal.
IMHO your best bet is to get a nice MIG, - www.mscdirect.com part number
62338785 $660 - this you will use more often than a TIG welder, and more
often than you think, Keep in mind that the low dollar MIG's that use a
flux core wire will not produce as nice of a weld as a dedicated gas fed
machine, and you cannot weld aluminium with these, but for $129 + shipping
thats a great deal. You can find some at www.harborfreight.com
TIG welding is the way to go for aluminium. I havent much experience with
this...maybe someone else does.
