MIL code 98

Got a 98 MIL last night.  It's the coolant temp sensor.  Just wondering if
anyone else has got this code and what you did to fix it.  I have the FSM
and have looked through the archives but was wondering if anyone had a
quick way to fix this.  I'm thinking about changing the thermostat and
seeing if that does anything first and go from there.  I've noticed that my
mileage has been in the 18-20 range w/o real hard driving lately.  I also
get a lot of part-throttle hesitation when the car is cold.
