Wouldn't hurt. If this is the driver's side there is a clip there that helps
hold the axle in (at least on the manuals) and it greatly helps inserting it
when it is greased. On the passenger side (again on a manual) there is no
clip so the axle slides right in without any force so there shouldn't be any
reason to use grease on the passenger side. But again it wouldn't hurt
anything. Wouldn't be of any use on the passenger side either.
