No, you weren't paying enough attention - I already got tires! :) Good enough was good enough (I'd rather spend money on the 911 if I have the choice), and I stuck with the OE size.

Update:

I could get probably some B14 wheels from Josh Palmer, but not for a few months, most likely. if I got new snows I could wait, but the current and likely future lack of snow made me reluctant to drop more money on new snows this winter, so new 3-season tires now became the priority. Direzzas would be fun, but at $125 each from the Tire Rack I don't want to spend as much money on new shoes for the SE-R as I did for new Conti DWSes for the 911, so I went with good enough and got some General Altimax RT43s installed this week. BFGs would have been perfect, but they're just not available in our sizes any more.

On another note, here is a clean-looking low-mileage NX in Washington state: http://bellingham.craigslist.org/cto/5936077709.html

It is a long time. Does the previous post reflect an old guy that is bitchin? about the young dude on his phone? Talk about the circle of life. 20 years ago it was some old guy complaining about the hooligan that was ?winding it out in second gear? in the next lane in some Nissan. If fact, you were just going 2nd to 4th and wanted some extra rpm due to your 3 gear pop out. :)

Seriously, Thanks for this listserv as it has taught me so much. My knowledge about turbos went from infancy to usable due to the time that Mike Kojima and others invested in teaching us lurkers. Many thanks. I also learned a bunch about suspensions here.

Indeed! I am sort of amazed that I have had my car for almost 24 years now.

I was nearly rear-ended at a stop sign the last time I drove my SE-R (by, as expected, a young dude who wasn't paying attention because he was gazing into his phone or whatever). If that had happened it would have obviously totalled the car and, I would have been very sad for it, but would have eventually gotten over it. Then I would have been able to immediately start seriously shopping for a non-boring replacement for my boring appliance car. but I just can't bear to get rid of the SE-R!

Yeah, I just saw those again today. A bit mixed on whether I want to put tires like that on. Even when it comes to high-performance tires, which is what I'd prefer, I'd rather have all-seasons for the rain traction and grip. And if it is cold but not yet snowy, I'd rather leave normal tires on, but summer tires are terrible in cold weather. I still remember sliding through a red light in Detroit at 15mph because I couldn't stop due to being on a thin coat of snow on summer tires on the car I was driving.

And as far as 195 or 205/50-15's go, I think we can thank the early Miata crowd for keeping the manufacturers pumping out a good supply of them.

We run Continental DW or DWS on everything as well. Such a great tire.
