They wouldn't be old timers if they had a good memory!  I remember some sort of theory that there was something wrong specifically with the 96's because they were slower at the track and dyno'd with less HP or something like that.  There were a few 96's though (Jeremy Keppler) that didn't fall into that category for some reason.  I think I remember some sort of cooky theory that all of the 96's had the chain off by a tooth or something like that
