Yeah, when I had problems I bench tested the starter I'd rebuilt,
worked great 100% of the time. On the car, not so much. I then bench
tested the "bad" starter and it also worked 100% of the time. Go
figure. Bad ground/switch -- same thing in the end, damn electrical
gremlin. I wasn't really expecting my cleaning of the block to do the
trick, you'd think it would still ground decently despite the crap on
it, but figured I'd start with first principles, get the basics
covered. Never had another starting issue after that, at least not
until the car was stolen and destroyed. Well, actually, it starts fine
after that too. :-)
