Is the gas guage issue also occuring when the clutch is pushed in?
Sounds like a fuse / relay or shorting issue.

Could be a frayed clutch cable.
Have them pull back the cable boot at the tranny end to check for loose
strands there and also check on the pedal side with the pedal pushed all of
the way in.

Jumping the clutch inhibitor switch is a good way to test if the switch is
bad.
