New clutch cables

Recalling an earlier post regarding difficulty in installing new clutch
cables. We just did a cable swap and found that with the replacement cable it
was almost impossible to get enough freeplay at the clutch lever. We resorted
to raising the pedal height slightly to get more slack. (hoping not to
overtravel the clutch afterwards). This last weekend at VIR Patriot course the
clutch cable end linkage/adjuster loosened and fell off. We managed to rig the
cable connection with bailing wire just in time to participate as the last car
in the time trial. Today we replaced the lost end link with the old cable link
(we never throw away old car parts) and found the link to be considerably
longer (so now we can re-adjust the pedal height).
As a note, the new cable was not Nissan but a Taiwan made, Autozone part (as
in, "for when you really, really gotta have it now" auto parts).
