that sounds almost exactly like what happened to me this summer. i did all the clean up work and what not... finally broke down and bought a Random Tech... passed with almost 0 emissions! go buy a Cat... my Random Tech cost just under $200 or just over $100.. can't remember exactly... if i don't get my SE-R in buyback i could pull the cat off it for you to buy...
