SR20DET choices.

Its been thrown around that GTi-R pistons and rods are capable of 500WHP by
some reputable engine tunners. Stock block will handle that with no problem.
The reason GTi-R has lower compression than BBird is due to the cylinder
head design which lowers the compression down some more. With the GTi-R
pistons intalled in a DE U get something like 8.5 or 8.8:1 compression- its
almost midnite dont feel like messing with formulas now to get the
compression ratio. The OBX manifold will take a T28, its a repleacement
manifold for a RWD DET. It works on FWD also and U get more room for a 3"
downpipe right off the turbo. I dunno how well it will wear and not crack
prematurely in the head flange to the primaries on the welds. OBX can make U
a flange for a T3 turbo also. I got one of their manifolds in T3 format. I
should find out how well it performs. U need to mount the wastegate in the
downpipe in order to run a TO4E turbo without welding a wastegate flange on
the pretty manifold. Or if U get a T28 they got a internal wastegate so U
would be all set. Its not worth the $$$ to buy a GTi-R unless ur engine is
blown. They are a pain in the ass to get runing right, parts are hard to
come by, and most of the ones sold by importers here are beat to all hell.
This is why I started out with a free spun rod bearing 95 SR20DE engine and
put all the goodies I wanted inside it... its balanced and all.

93 SE-R waiting on the head to come back from the machine shop... hmmm fresh
pistons and rods, cams, such a pretty manifold and turbo on the front of it
:)
