I'll third the guess that it is electrical.  You mentioned new cap & rotor
-- I changed mine once, and didn't tighten the screw enough on the
rotor.  It fell out, the rotor started spinning around aimlessly, and the
car died on the hwy.  Something else to check before you pay for a tow.
