Egr and fubar

It's easy.  Just bite the bullet.  It will be easier than the dinking
around you're doing now.

Mark the position of the distributor and remove it.  You will need to put
it back to the same position when you reinstall it.

Two bolts removes the tube from the intake manifold.

One big-ass nut attaches it to the exhaust manifold.

You might need to detach the coil bracket too.

At this point you can remove the EGR tube.

Installation is the reverse of these steps.  You can easily do this in one
evening.
