I wound't becuase the coolant might not be in the rad long
enough to cool it off for the next cycle. With it
continually running, it may actually continue your overheating.

If you want to try this you can get a piece of aluminum
the diameter of the thermostats (printed on the thermostat)
and drill a hole starting small like 5/8th. This
restricter hole will only allow a certain amount
through at a time... you can step up the dialeter of
the whole accordingly untill the temps come down to normal.

This was done on a race car and several templates were
made and used depending on the time of the year, with
good results.
