Actually, I rebuilt my alternator myself for a grand total of thirty-some dollars. Just to be sure, I replaced the diode assembly and the I.C. voltage regualtor assembly. I did this about three years ago and haven't had a single problem since. It was also pretty easy to do. It's also much more *cost effective* than buying a new one from the dealer.
