I don't think the AIV will cause the car to run rich.

The AIV allows fresh air to be introduced into the exhaust after the O2
sensor. It may alter emissions and maybe reduce the efficiency of the
catalytic converter, but probably would not change the mixture unless the
ECU monitors for the that valve and makes changes if it is not connected.
