Sombering activity for the list but feel I want to share.<div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">When this horrible tragedy occurred I was in my early 20s, had just finished college, and was laid off from my first job a few days earlier on September 6th. As I had some free time I went from Chattanooga, TN to visit a friend in Raleigh NC. I was at his home when his parents woke us up on 9/11 screaming about the news. It was unreal, unfolded like a movie. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Still in shock I had to decide if I should stay there or venture driving home with all of the lock downs that were in place. I am American, but also Muslim, and had already heard of more crazy things had already started happening against people that 'appeared' Muslim. <div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">I decided I wanted to go home and drove the 7 hours back to Chattanooga in my SE-R. The whole ride home I couldn't believe how something like this could happen here?! That drive was probably the only time I obeyed the speed limit 100%. Had some stares from people at my two gas stops but thankfully the car and I both made it home in one piece.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">The next day my parents and I received at least 100 calls and visits to make sure we were okay. That was the America my parents gave up everything to bring me here to when I was just 2. Where people welcome you and care about the well being of others. Despite all the noise in our media filled lives these days I really do believe it is still the same country.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Now, 18 years later, I have a family of my own. I am now explaining the horror of 9/11 and more recent tragedies like mass shootings to my oldest daughter who is 9 years old. I told her the good folks are many and that gives me hope.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Omer Khan</div><div dir="auto">'92 White SE-R</div><div dir="auto">'09 E63 AMG</div><div dir="auto">'06 LR3</div><div dir="auto"><div dir="auto"><br></div></div></div></div>+----------------------------------------------------------------------+<br>
