As someone with two cars, 21 and 18 years old, I can tell you those who
keep old cars alive somewhat rely on donor car parts to keep survivors
going.

The question is, are there enough folks keeping these alive?

I'm sorry to hear this. I fear an accident in my 18 YO DD as it's a bit of
a unicorn and the car I really want to drive. Glad your son is OK and hope
this doesn't affect his competition.
