B14 SR20DE back of the engine brace

I removed that brace years ago, and it didn't make a difference.  I have a
VE in the car now, and I don't remember it having one either, so you will
be okay. The only problem I can see is if you remove the engine at some
point and use the intake manifold as a lift point.
