I guess I'm kind of a SE-R  old timer too and a ll of this banter on the list and talk of bringing back up SE-R.net is bringing a tear to my eye.     In fact I only really keep this old email active to receive messages from this list.  I thought I'd write a somewhat SE-R related post in celebration.

I think it is a fact that the numbers of classics/nx are dwindling. I rarely see another classic SE-R on the road these days and when I do it's kind of cool.  Last month I was driving home  and a guy in another car, I think it was a Mitsu EVO, rolled down the window gave me a thumbs up and took a picture.   First time that's happened to me in at least 10 years.

My '92 is my daily driver and has been since I bought it in 96.  It is definetely showing it's age.  Every time I wash it some paint comes off with the dirt  and has developed a few spots of surface rust I need to fix.  I have been planning to paint it for 5 years but who cares.  I just accept that it's a 50 foot car which is okay since it was a 10 foot car when I bought it.

Last month I  had to do plenty of much neglected maintenance from rebuilding the distrubutor, new boots on the a xles, and ball joints.  I did this prior to driving it about 900 miles round trip for a camping/canoe trip in NC.  Although the suspension is a bit harsh (KYB AGX/HyperCoil gen 2) it came into it's own on the backroads and I finally remembered why I bolted all these 'mods' on so many years ago.  The car is approaching 300k miles, the engine has about 190k miles since I rebuilt it and it gets me 29/30mpg city and on the trip averaged about 34 hwy.  This is with S3 cams, all the bolt ons, and a mild tune on a Calum ECU.  After all these years it still drives great.

Here's a shot of my classic at the campsite.  My buddies were running late on meeting me there  so I admit to moving the car a couple times to frame the shot correctly.  I think it was worth the effort for old time's sake.

If you are one of the lucky few to still have one of these cars in your stable do yourself a favor and go wring it out to the rev limiter.

Thanks for reading.
