Most of the SE-R specific stuff I learned from people here, many of whom are still here and still my list "heroes." Merlin was gone by the time I joined. Mike was in and out for a while before coming back regularly. Countless others paved the way. Zak, Jim Wright, Rick Zotz, Wayne Cox, Mike Garner (sp?), and many others I'm missing either brought new knowledge, or collected it and put it on web sites before SE-R.net. I hope I am not insulting anyone by leaving them off.
I have to squelch this right here, I'm no grease monkey or car guru. When I joined the list I could change the oil and the tires, and little else. Thanks to the great folks here I was soon adding a POP Charger, helped organize a header group buy, and did a lot of documenting of things on the web to help others with what I managed to do thanks to the folks on the list. I was standing on the shoulders of others who knew far more than I did.
