coatings and clearances

I have tech-monkey question:

I'm looking to get the pistons of my motor coated. Swain quotes that their
moly coating is 0.0008"

My motor has grade 2 bores/pistons.  Max clearance is 0.0012,  min = 0.0004

If my clearances are at the small end, do I need to go to grade 1 pistons,
or should just use what I have?  Is the coating treated as if it is metal,
or does it scuff down to diameter?

BTW Grade 1 pistons would give a Max= 0.0016 and Min=0.0008
