I don't have any garage-based chemistry to add, but I would start with
scuffing the muffler up; and you might want to check on a high-temp primer
to really let the ceramic paint adhere to the body. My Magnaflow is
extremely smooth (it is polished), so I could see the paint coming off
easily without proper prep.
