squeal - front wheels

I think I've found it,
Took the one brake completely apart and really inspected the bearing
sides. Because I knew I had an issue I didn't try Ben's WD40 trick yet.
1st thing I found was that on the inside pad, with the shim cover and
shim retainer, that the retainer had come off. Obviously I hadn't put
that on properly last weekend but that still doesn't explain the long
term noise.
Here it is, one dust cover was removed last year. Other this
spring.Page 463 of the second section of the FSM looks like it
supports me - that dust/baffle cover is tied into the bearing - and
something from there was slightly bent from removal which was then
spinning around and scraping - since there was nothing left to hold
it in place.
This would explain why it doesn't squeal when it's cold and why the
bearing itself didn't fail long ago.
Sound logical?
