Gas Prices

I filled up this morning, 15 minutes ago. $2.79 for 87 octane... it
was $2.69 less than 1/2 hour earlier, saw the sign as I was driving my
son to school and filled up on the way back. I know it probably doesn't
make much difference to some of you, but, I noticed this morning that
driving in 2nd gear at 25 mph I hit about 4k rpm. In 3rd gear, the rpms
drop to around 2k at the same speed. Another thing I've noticed to get
better mpg, choose the "right" gas station. I have a prepaid BP/Amoco
card, still has money on it but I no longer use it on a regular basis.
Why? Because I get 3-4 miles less per gallon with BP than I do with any
other gas that I use... no lie. Even when I drove out to the
convention from Florida, I used BP a couple of times and still got 3-4
miles less per gallon on the highway. I don't know what the difference
in gas is, but I pay attention to it.
I see that a lot of the states have significantly higher prices than
I've seen in Florida. Maybe, because of Hurricane Andrew years ago,
Florida has a very strict anti-gouging law on prices and price setting.
Despite the shortages, it is still price gouging to raise the gas that
high, imo.
Peace,
Mark
