Brake rotor question

Rotors are throw away items these days, especially on lower weight, lighter
duty vehicles.  Their prices have fallen drastically over the years.  Brake
pad material has advanced drastically over the years, too!  So yes, it is
likely the rotors are, indeed, at the end of their life.  Now, the rubbing,
or scraping, you hear is probably the 'lip' on the inside and outside of the
rotor surface both at the inner most and outer most edge of the brake pad
contact patch (where the pad comes in contact with the rotor).  Your best
bet is to replace the rotors ASAP before your new pads take on the contact
surface of the old rotor surfaces.  By the time your new pads wear out, the
rotors will be warped and dangerously thin!
