I usually lift the car up- remove the splash shield on the pass side of the
car where the pulleys are. Then I loosen the pivot 14mm bolt from the bottom
off the car. Then I lower the car down so I can work from the top of the
engine compartment. I wedge my hand behind the intake manifold with a long
12mm boxed end wrench and just break the 12mm bolt loose- its the bolt that
holds the loooong adjuster bolt tight from moving- hard to explain where it
goes but I think U know what I mean. Then I get a ratcheting "gearwrench"
12mm stubby in there and loosen that bolt some more. THEN I get my 12mm 3/8"
drive swivel socket with all them extensions and go to town loosening the
pump. My 1/4" air ratchet with 12mm 1/4" drive socket won't fit between the
shocktower and pump in my B13, but in the P10 it fits fine. I've seen guys
not loosen the bottom pivot bolt and the pump will not move down when U
loosen the adjuster bolt. They try to use a prybar to force the pump down-
its a PITA and U can break something while doing that. My car was a breeze
to work on with no PS pump, no AC or ABS.
