Chris's Engine thus far.

Well all that were at the convention remember's Chris's engine with the
nasty rod knock.  We got to work on it today.  Last night couple co
workers and I that had a truck carried it from Eric's work to Louis
Laprad's dad's house.  This morning we get over there around 9am...in
some nasty cold drizzley weather too.  Went to start it to pull it in,
oh my lord that was the nastiest sounding rod knock ive ever heard.
Much worse than Larry Week's at the DC convention.  After a few hours of
pulling, cliping, twisting, and cursing we stoped for some lunch.  At
that point we were very close to dropping the engine.  Just a few things
here and there before the engine was freed.

It was Eric Waterman, Hiro Laprad(Louis' brother), and I for most of the
day.  We seemingly kept going a good pace too.  Using Phil Laprad(Loius'
dad) little hoist idea we had the engine somewhat suspended.  After
seeing the car was too far forward for the stationary hoist we had to
carefuly roll it back on the jack a few inches, that was loads of fun.
We continued to pull from the top any way we could.  That was fruitless
tho, just wasnt going to happen too much binding.

So here we go cursing the secondary to cat bolts.  they eventualy came
free.  So we then droped motor to the ground.  Now how to get the car
away from it?  Well those hooks werent enough to lift the car.  So jack
it up and put it on ramps.  Then I mentioned why dont we lay the engine
flat and make it less tall.  Well that was the ticket.  One little boo
boo on the valve cover, we were so carefull we really were.  We did
everything we could to protect it, but as the saying goes....accidents
happen when you get tired.  We were getting worn out for sure.  Well I
ended up on my back falling on the crossmember laying on the ground
while trying to pull the engine out.  The floor was soaked with various
fluids that had spilled from various times moving the engine.

That is about as far as we got.  All of us were exhausted and ready for
a shower.  We would have liked to have gotten further but only 2 of us
working on it full time with one go-fer it worked well but had to
concentrate.

There may be time this week to work on a few small things.  Time will
tell as all of us work full time.  Not to mention Im on my second engine
swap/pull this weekend...did one friday night till 1am.  Ol 2.8
Blazer...woah fun let me tell ya.

So maybe Chris and his car will be back in New York for
Thanksgiving....time will tell.  Now on to the pics.
