The SR20 cable IS shorter but look at the "D" which is where the cable
mounts to. From the "D" the GA16 is shorter giving you more distance to
shorten the cable, thereby giving you more adjustment. Meaning that it's
gonna be tighter upon install than the SR20 cable. Which means you won't
have to tighten it as much to take up the slack.
On the SR20 cable, the "D" is too far, in my case, to take up the slack, it
ends up at the end of the threads and still not enough to completely
disengage the clutch. So upon install, you have to almost take up half the
threads just to semi-tighten it.
One thing I want to note though, I tried the GA16 cable back when I had the
clutch gritch on my OEM clutch with 90K miles. I was NOT able to put it on
as it was too short to reach and I ended up getting another SR20 cable. This
time with the JWT PP, I was able to install the GA16 cable with  minimal
fuss so I dunno what happened there.

I'm no physics expert but no matter where the mounting
point is you still have the extra 1" of cable length.  Swap
back to an SR cable and I'm sure you'll be fine after
adjusting the cable.

I don't know where the idea of using the GA16 cable came
from but I'm not recommending it.  I've tried it and it
stinks.

Ray since you have a B14 you have two mounting points on
the trans.  You can try the other one to see if that makes
a difference or not.
