Given the design of the Autopower bar, neither the driver nor the passenger are
likely to come in contact with the bar - it's behind the front seats. However,
since you mention kids, the back seat becomes unsafe for rear passengers due to
its proximity to the bar. This is doubly true of the cross-braced model. I
shudder to think of the impact (pun intended) of a rear-seat passenger
contacting the cross-brace on a frontal collision.
