So, to prevent this problem, get a clearly worded estimate, sign on the
bottom line, take your copy and pay with a credit card.
BTW, if a shop prices by the job based upon SAE hourly guide-lines and
completes the job in half the time why should they half their price for
being competent?
Example: My Mother recently had to have the head-gasket in her lincoln
replaced. She recieved 2 quotes, both within $70 of each other. One shop
stated that they could have the car back to her in 3 hours, the other shop
said 6hrs. She went with the 3 hr shop and had her car back the same day.
I do not see anything wrong with that. If the shop could have done it 20
min why should they charge less?
