I had this issue when I first got my Motivational CO's with the 7" rear
springs. I had the spring perch as high as the spring would allow without
compressing it and I drove with it like that. The problem with this setup is
that when you hit a bump and the spring compresses, the coils touch each
other because you're not letting the shock compress and do its work. When I
lowered it a little bit, the compression lets the shock dampen the spring
before its coils touches each other thereby avoiding coil binding. In the
end, I went ahead and got 8" spring because I didn't like how low my car was
and wanted to raise it a little bit and still avoid coil bind. If there's
anyone more technically proficient here, help me out if this is not a good
enough explanation.
