In NA engine tuning 5% is a lot of power gain, about
the same power gain you get on an SR20 with a header
or cams.

I pay big bucks to get another 5% on non-turbo cars.
Depending on the year of Maxima, the Cattman pipe gets
rid of the pre-cats not the main cat, I belive that
Jizzes car falls into this range.

The pre-cats are for cold start emission reduction.
Most cars will still pass a tailpipe test like this
and it won't light the MIL light either if the rear O2
sensor is in place.

However cold start emissions are about 80-90% of all
total emissions made during the EPA FTP test.

Before anyone gets on a high horse here, just about
all of you who have a header make a lot more cold
start polutants even if you cat is hooked up. The
header makes the cat take take over twice as long to
light off.

The same goes for anyone that uses an aftermaket high
flow or other cat. Aftermarket cats only have about a
70% conversion efficency brand new. OEM cats are over
90% efficenct.

Not all of my cars have cats, only the ones that are
driven frequently, although all of my cars can be
switched to run cats easily.

I belive in two things that should exsist to reform
smog registration. One the test should be a closed
hood dyno test, two hot rodders with limited yearly
mileage non-commercial vehicles should be able to
apply for smog exempt status if you pay a CO2 tax that
would be applied towards buying C02 credits from rain
forrest contries.
