I don't think I said that they were aluminum, I think I said they weren't

Fidanza's flywheel page doesn't seem to state what theirs are made of,
except that their "ring gears are heat treated for durability. They are
heated, pressed on and then secured using grade 10 fasteners."

*If* the Fidanza ring gear were made of a highly ferrous metal, I would
agree 100%.  The CPS failing to register motion, though, is a very common
problem, especially with Fidanza wheels.  Not that Fidanza wheels are
worse than other aftermarket wheels, but they seem to be one of the most
common (probably due to price).

Exactly.  We need to figure this out and document it.  The original poster
probably aught to replace his CPS, first, though.  CarParts.com lists a
Borg-Warner replacement sensor for $51.60.
