Help setting timing

Hey all-

Finally tried to advance my timing last night as per
Wayne Cox's directions on the FAQ.

Problem:  When I disconnect the TPS (It is the brown
plug on the back of the Throttle Body, right?), My
idle won't go below 1600. Is my idle set incorrectly?
Can someone please walk me through what I need to do?
I followed all the prodedures for heating up the O2
and revving past 3 grand....

Also, which plug do I put the timing light on. Number
1, right? which would be the second cylinder from the
passenger side?
