1997 200SX SE-R Alternator troubles

My alternator went out Tuesday night.  I figured that
it's not a big deal.  The Haynes manual went through
it and things looked simple (usually is fairly
accurate on other cars I've owned), but I can't get
the nut off of the pivot bolt.  It looks like it's
welded onto the little bracket on my car.  Is there
some kind of trick to getting this off?  Is there some
secret access hole where I can get a socket and
breaker bar on there that I don't know about?
