I had a similar problem when I first bought my car. Turned out to be the
little rubber "cap" that sits over the switch... it kept falling off. I took
some rcv that I had left over from fixing my trunk leak, put it on the tip
of the switch, pushed the cap back on and voila... have never had a problem
since with the door ajar light coming on.

Hope this helps, it's one of the easiest fixes I've done on the car...
