cant get swap to idle

can some one please give me some suggestions on this. i recently bought a 91
classic with a blown motor which i put another 91 motor in (left overs from
my turbo car when i did the det swap). everything is back together and in the
car but now  i cant get it to idle. the motor sat for about 3 years so i made
sure to change all  the plugs primed the motor prior to starting it and
everytyhing else i could think of. the car starts and runs as long as i mess
with the gas but wont idle. sometimes it will spike to 2500 and then stall
when holding the gas partially open. i've worked the idle adj screw to both
extremes with no possitive results,  i even went as far as pumping out all
the old gas(2 years old) and refilling it. could the timing chain have
jumped? would that cause it to not idle ? should i try swapping out the aac
valve and see if that would help? thanks
