Just remember that STR isn't really a class anymore. It's just STS and
SP, now.

Two factors; actual tread width and actual sidewall height. Instinct
says that a 225/45 would be a better idea, but experience has shown that
even in the same brand and model, there is often little variance between
sizes. Take, for example, the Falken Azenis Sport RS in 205/55-16 vs
215/45-16; the only actual difference between them is sidewall height,
as mounted and inflated, the tread width and section width are each
identical. Don't just blindly trust what's stamped on the sidewall.
Also, make sure that they will fit. A v700 or a Hoosier 225 should have
tread and section widths on the order of a "normal" 235 or maybe even
245 tire. Offset of the rim is something to seriously consider.

Yes. Do the math, but also look at the manufacturer's recommended wheel
widths. Tire Rack should have this information handy on their web site.

Also, I'd start looking at real 13" and 14" wheels; those designed for FWD
cars in racing environments with big calipers. They exist, they are not
too expensive, and they are virtually nothing like the OEM steelies from
an '88 Pulsar NX...
