High beam not coming on

I finally fixed the problem I had with one high beam not coming on.
After checking all the connections and wires (short of checking for
Continuity) I narrowed the problem down to the toggle/stick on the
Steering column itself. Unplugging the one wire harness to it and
Then unscrewing two screws on the side allowed easy removal to bring
Inside and work on it. On the back of the switch there is a sort of
Translucent plastic cover that you can just pop off. Behind there
Is a series of 5 connectors, somewhat like a solenoid. By turning
The knob to different positions and clicking the highs off and on
You can see how the in the middle of the unit a plastic spacer moves
Around to allow the solenoids to make contact. I lifted up the switches
A little bit and noticed they were very black and a lot of deposits were
Between them. I took some fine grade sandpaper and worked up some new
Shiny metal on both connections.
After installing the toggle back in, the other high beam came on and
from my perspective, it looked like all the other lights were a tad
brighter...maybe from less resistance. Even if you don't have a problem
yet, if you have free time, or are doing something with the steering
column, take a couple mins and clean them out...it may save a problem
in the long run...possibly give your lights a little more brightness.
