I didn't know how else to title it...
Anywho... I just wanted to add my comments on the recent improvements done
to my Classic.
I got a FSTB for $30 from a local LM... installed
I got a HKS intake from WRX buddy who used to own a Classic 3 cars ago...
partially installed
I got a K&N filter (clone) from STB LM... installed
195/60/14 Falken Azenis Sport... installed
18* timing
polygraphite sway bar bushings
okay... the intake is partial 'cause I only used parts from it. Could not
find the replacement element w/o buying new one ($125 vs. 0)... used the
mounting plate and rubber gasket to connect the K&N clone to the intake,
hence hybrid intake.. part HKS, part K&N clone. With APC breather filter.
Absolutely LOVE the response of the engine now. noticeable power increase,
pulls smoother, idles smoother, revs smoother (see a pattern here?) and
accelerates smoother... in other words.. SMOOTH.
Not sure if I am gonna keep the STB on for now until I upgrade the stock
suspension (3+ months away). Does feel stiffer but I think pushes the nose a
little more on the autocross track.
Falkens... my first real experience with a performance tire. I don't count
the crap that came stock on my Subaru.. even though Bridgestone and SOA say
so.. These tires ROCK! They may not have the prettiest profile for my size
but make up for it in performance (which is what matters). Tire noise is up
but my exhaust and intake and radio cover that. haven't tried on the course
yet but on the street, noticeable difference. Turn in is quicker and so is
steering response. The car feels more stable and smoother (there it is
again). I cannot wait to use them in competition!
Overall.. with the few things done; i/e, timing, SWB bushings, tires, and
STB the car FEELS different. I can see that there is more potential in this
car... I love this car/motor!
Now I just need $$$...
Well sorry for the length... but thanks for listening.
