Don't assume they're identical.  Earlier production SR20s had a longer
filter, but the threads were slightly different.  It would thread on, but
not right.  I think a few people have had oil loss, thread damage, etc when
"the other filter" has been used.  Sounds like you're going for "bigger is
better"?  I'd stick with the correct filter myself.
