Column lock/ign switch

My girlfriend has a 1997 Sentra GXE which has started to develop a problem
with the column lock/ign switch. The key occasionally is very difficult to
turn after insertion, and no amount of steering wheel rocking seems to make
any difference. So far, after fiddling with the key, it has eventually
turned. Another friend of mine had the same thing with her 1998 Maxima, she
had to be towed from a parking lot & have the switch replaced, which
seems like a pretty simple job but they charged her like 300+ bucks. I've
had the steering wheel & other column bits off my '91 SE-R, again this
seems like a pretty easy job (replacing the switch) I'm wondering if
anyone has any comments on this.
Thanks,
Dan
BTW replaced the liquid filled motor mount on my se-r (posted about this
last week) really easy job & took care of the problem (noise in reverse
etc.) completely! Thanks for the replies on this. One thing I noted is
that in contrast to the description on the problems & fixes page
http://www.se-r.net/faq/problems.html#front-insulator, I found w/mine
installing the 3 engine bolts first was required, then the mount crossbolt.
