> bumping up the idle to 950-100
Two things.
1) S3 cams do not have a bad idle, even with the stock ECU.
2) If you bump the idle on a stock ECU, you know what happens? The ECU brings
it back down. All you are setting with the BISS screw is the base idle, or the
base amount of air that gets bypassed into the intake, that's it. That is why
you have to set the idle in timing set mode for it to work properly. The ECU
then uses the ISC motor to get the idle at a perfect 750. Someone will come
here and say they have their idle set to 1200 or something, but all you have
done is move the BISS screw up enough where the ECU can no longer adjust
properly using the ISC. They are out of the range of motion. This will cause
idle problems as the temps change, the AC goes off/on, the parking lot power
steering bump will not work, etc.
But the jest of it all is that the S3's anyway don't have bad idle, so you
shouldn't have to monkey with it to change things. Matter of fact I think Rob
C has one of the highest dyno numbers NA and if I'm not mistaken he was still
using the stock ECU at the time.
As far as emissions with S3's go, I would have to say: Emissions? What's
that?
