>>Man, that's a heck of a lot of hardware hanging off of the oil pressure
nipple threading into the block. I'd be worried about all that weight
breaking the whole assembly off the nipple resulting in lost oil
pressure. <<

This is exactly what happened to me at the convention. I don't have the
Hotshot turbo kit, but I do have a GTi-R engine and I mounted a Autometer
oil pressure sending unit where the GTi-R sending unit was. In order to
get the big electrical sending unit to fit (oil cooler and filter left no
room), I had to extend the brass fitting about 2" out from the block.
With little more than 2500 miles of vibration it cracked where the
fitting went into the block with only the weight of the sending unit and
a moment arm of about 3". This resulted in a nasty oil leak (that we
noticed immediately once we parked), and loss of oil pressure to the
gauge only (which we didn't notice immediately). I was extremely lucky
that it happened while at the picnic. If it had happened on the
interstate, I wouldn't have noticed until I lost pressure or so much oil
it overheated. So many great people came and helped me get it fixed up
including Al, Rick, Brian, and countless others who donated tools and
fluids. I won't be putting my sending unit back there. I think I am going
to use a SS braided line and mount the sending unit securely somewhere.
We'll see. My opinion is to get the oil distribution block that FTF sells
and use it for all of your oil connections.
