***George, I was going to suggest the same thing. The
JWT instructions say to rev the motor at around 3000
RPM for 20 minutes, followed by around 500 miles of
driving under 4,000 RPM. Then, change your oil and
filter.
I brought this up in a list discussion once, and
several people told me this was unnecessary. A lot of
people just install new cams, rev it up a few times,
and let her rip. This just doesn't seem right to me at
all.
The oil pressure at idle is too low to get good oiling
during the first 20 minutes. That's why revving to
3000 RPM is so important during those first 20 minutes
after the install.
George, what exactly do you normally do to properly
break in a set of new cams?
