Case Welding

HI all-i have some questions regarding welding the transmission case.
Lookin through the archives there are several ways to do it.  Some weld from
the inside and some weld the outside of the case.
1. Is there a "Best" way to do it?
2. Does it have to be tig welded-could i weld it with a mig welder set up to
weld aluminun?
3. How much does JWT charge for this and what's the average turn around
time?
