I think you are dealing with several factors.
1 Your friend wants his car to look good (doesn't everyone).
2 You don't know how the car was dynoed (awd vs fwd)
3 What kind of corrections did they use to get the 305 hp (wheel or
engine).
I pulled an old SCC and it has 6 WRX all modified. Only 2 had the stock
turbo. One with a race exhaust and a bad engine made 160 whp (on a awd dyno
vs 147 stock), the other made 182. The one with 182 had a 3 inch exhaust,
hi flow converter, boost controller at 14psi, intake and a high flow TMIC.
Now I will not play the correction game on the 147 vs 222 stock numbers.
The quarter mile times were 13.6 at 99.5mph. The 160 whp car did a 13.8
at 97.4 vs 14.3 at 93.5 (stock). With this info it seems obvious that he is
extrapolating crank hp out of the dyno run. This is common but much debated
(please lets not start that again). Ask him what his numbers to the wheels
were. That is a fair way to compare the type on increase (not total)
horsepower he has. BTW the most powerful car had "only" 218 whp but ran a
12.9 at 104.6 (not bad). Obviously you can't compare awd numbers with 2wd
numbers on the dyno easily.

I friend of mine just emailed me and said his friend just
got a new Subaru WRX Turbo....he changed the exhaust
and installed a boost controller and it dynoed at 305hp?
Is that possiable?
