Where's Calum when you need him?!  It sorta looks like it puts a bias voltage onto the coil or driver transistor.  No idea why or what that would do;  any idea what pin#3 on the ECU is?  Oh well.... I flunked out of EE 22 years ago anyway, so I'll just shut up.
